Africa Faith Justice Network (AFJN) – Uganda in Partnership with the Association of Religious in Uganda, Fort Portal Diocese has been involved in creating awareness on human trafficking. The sisters in Fort Portal had a meeting with the male victims of Human Trafficking and the local government leaders.
The meeting was about awareness creation through sharing concerns on human trafficking facilitated by sisters from two Religious congregations namely Sisters of the Holy Cross and Little Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in the temple (LSPM) funded by Africa Faith Justice Network (AFJN).

Most of the victims who survived from Oman and Saudi Arabia are single mothers, child mothers and women from neglected families and one is a total orphan who does not have any sibling on earth. These victims failed to access quality and professional education. They were selected among the many who joined the network to combat human trafficking in communities and reduce its impact.

Objectives of the Seminar
- The main objective of the seminar was to give space to the victims share their stories, their life experiences in Arab world and the difference after returning home.
- To empower participants through life skills and become promoters of positive change through promotion of job creation vs job seeking thus, promoting the future of the girl child.
- Improve family life so as to face the challenge of their fragile societies and be hopefully ushered into prosperity.
The sisters in Fort portal also use radio programmes as platform to reach out to the local communities. They are reaching out to the Diocese of Kasese and other places through their outreach programs. They also collaborate with local government in fighting the vice of human trafficking and other social injustices.
