At Africa Faith & Justice Network Uganda, our work is guided by a set of core values that underpin our mission and
shape our approach to combating human trafficking and modern slavery.
These values are the pillars upon which our organization stands.
AFJN-U believes in prayer as a powerful weapon in its effort to bring justice to the world. From prayer it draws the strength to face the evils that are plaguing society. Like Christ, members of AJFN-U begin their mission from intimate relationship with God through prayer, asking God to allow his will to be done in their lives, and give them the courage to witness his love among the poor and oppressed.
AFJN-U is called to make the love of Christ a reality in the lives of the oppressed. Through acts of charity and their own examples of live, members of the network hope to draw the poor and oppressed even close to God in their search for solutions to their predicaments.
AFJN-U exists to promote the dignity of the human person. Human dignity is derived from the fact that God created man and woman in his own image and put them in a garden with everything they needed to live a happy life. By addressing itself to social injustice AFJN-U believes it is contributing to the restoration of the human person so that he or she can live life in its fullness.
AFJN-U understands justice as a quality or habit which perfects the will and inclines it to render to each and to all what belongs to them. The object of the virtue of justice is the other person’s rights, whether natural or bestowed by Church or State. Justice toward men disposes one to respect the rights of each and to establish in human relationships the harmony that promotes equity with regard to persons and to the common good. The just man, often mentioned in the Sacred Scriptures, is distinguished by habitual right thinking and the uprightness of his conduct toward his neighbour.

Love is the cardinal value of Christianity. Like all believers in Christ, members of AFJN-U strive continuously to grow in love in order to give love to those who need it most, namely, the poor and oppressed. Its mission revolves around witnessing the love of Christ through total self-giving in the service of the oppressed and the poor. AFJN-U addresses itself to social conditions that contradict the selfless love that Christ showed humanity through death on the cross.
In our ongoing mission to combat human trafficking and modern slavery, transparency is vital. We believe that sharing our progress with our valued supporters, members, and partners is essential.
Conducted advocacy from 2018 to date on human trafficking both at international and local levels. At international level, the network made presentation to Santa Martha Group on the status of human trafficking in Uganda. Led to recognition of the network at that level. At national level, the Network targeted key government officials and religious institutions through workshops and these made commitments to take action against human trafficking.
As a result, it brought on board some of the people who sponsored relatives and friends to go abroad to withdraw sponsorship and become part of the network partners fighting the vice. It also provided opportunity for persons who did not know they were supporting human trafficking to like up with the network and provide useful information that led to the rescue of some of the victims. Meanwhile, some victims and relatives are calling and seeking help to rescue and resettle them.
Rescued 13 girls, gave them life skills in various areas, such tailoring, hair dressing, catering and entrepreneurship to enable them reintegrate well into communities and live decent lives.
